Jonathan was the son of William and Elizabeth Wadsworth and was born in 1729, in Hartford, CT. His father was 52 years old when Jonathan was born, so the 2 only got 28 years to spend with each other. When Jonathan grew up he married Elizabeth Talcott and they had 8 children together before Jonathan was sent off to war. Jonathan was pressed into military service in 1777, and marched to his first battle on August 26th, 1777. Jonathan was sent to fight in the battle fought at Saratoga, and there is where he made his name. The man who reported this incident was Jonathan's cousin Erik Wadsworth, who also, was in the battle at Saratoga. When battling, Jonathan had taken a bullet for his cousin when a british soldier came up behind his cousin. Leaving Jonathan on the ground, severly wounded. Experts say that Jonathan is a true hero, in every sense of the word. There aren't words that descirbe this man, but I found one good sentence about him, that really shows what he did - "Through Jonathans death, a nation was forged." That man is one of the reasons why America is still what they are today. Jonathan has family today, that are still alive, who can pass down the tale of the grandfather, and great great grandfather; so on and so forth. Mary Jane (Fry) Wadsworth is the future of the Wadsworth generation. She frequently visits her great grandfather's grave in London England, where other patriots were burried who fought in the Battle of Saratoga.
